Cherry Crisp

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. flour
2/3 c. shortening or butter (I use butter)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt
2 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

mix dry ingredients and shortening until crumbly. Pat half of mixture into a greased 9 x 13 " pan. Spread cherry filling over this, then top with other half of crumbly mixture and pat down lightly. Bake 35 minutes in preheated 350 degree oven.

We love to eat this warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle fresh whip cream on top. Yum!!
